Matthew Scott "Matt" Giraud (born May 11, 1985) is an American singer-songwriter and musician from Kalamazoo, Michigan and the fifth-place finalist of the eighth season of the reality television series American Idol. He was the first recipient of the Judges' Save. Matt is the official celebrity spokesman for God's Kitchen of Michigan.
Matt Giraud Fights Hunger Fundraiser
American Idol: Season 8 Star, Matt Giraud, is partnering with CALTRAN, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, God's Kitchen of Michigan, and Kalamazoo County Fights Hunger Fund, to raise $3 million dollars to build and operate a state-of-the-art commissary and dining room to feed homeless and hungry souls in West Michigan. The new 7,000 square foot facility will be built in the Douglas Neighborhood in Kalamazoo, Michigan. A small fleet of food trucks (mobile soup kitchens) will traverse the streets of Kalamazoo and West Michigan to combat hunger where the homeless and hungry live. A total of 15 to 20 new full- and part-time jobs are anticipated to prepare and serve free dinners for the needy Monday through Friday.
